Q&A

What are skin peels?

A skin peel is a technique which involves the application of a variety of chemical solutions to remove the damaged outer layers of dead skin cells from the skin’s surface.  It is extremely beneficial for many skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation, rosacea, acne, sun damage, and photo aging.  By removing the build-up of dead skin cells and stimulating the regenerative process, you will notice marked improvements in the formation of wrinkles and fine lines, texture and tone of the skin, hydration, reduced pore size, clearing of blemishes and more balanced oil production and an overall healthier skin appearance.

What type of peels do you use?

We use superficial peels that do not penetrate beyond the epidermis or papillary dermis. They are not to be confused with medical or physician strength peels that affect the reticular dermis.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a simple and safe procedure for exfoliating the epidermis and ridding the skin of fine vellus hair (peach fuzz).  Using a scalpel and a delicate touch, we simply abrade the surface of the skin using light feathering strokes.  Removing epidermal skin also allows products to penetrate more readily `into the deeper layers. Many clients are often concerned that the hair will grow back heavier and darker after dermaplaning. This is not the case. As long as the hair is superficial vellus hair, it will grow back at the same rate and texture as before the treatment.

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash extensions are made of synthetic or mink fiber that are attached to the natural eyelashes one strand or in the case of volume lashes 2-6 strands at a time. The extensions will shed however, can last indefinitely with maintenance touchups every 2-3 weeks. Touchups are necessary to replenish the fallen hairs and maintain the look. Eyelash extensions come in varies curvatures - B (slight curl), C (curly), D (extra curly), DD (dramatically curly), J (straight), and L (great for naturally flat lashes). They range in thickness from 0.06 mm to .25 mm and lengths from the shortest being 5mm and longest 15mm. Eyelash extension can look very natural to extremely exaggerated.

Will my natural eyelashes fall-out?

Each natural lash grows and sheds naturally, just like scalp hair - in a cycle. The cycle last approximately 60 to 90 days, each hair growing at its own rate. Each hair is at a different point in the cycle. People typically shed between 1-5 natural lashes each day. When the natural lash sheds due to the growth cycle, the eyelash extension will shed with it.

Can I wear eye makeup and eye cream with lash extensions?

Yes, however the extensions can fall out prematurely with the use of oil-based eye products. The oil can break the adhesive bond from the natural lash. Use in moderation.

What are the do’s and don’ts for wearing eyelash extensions?

Do clean, condition, brush them, and schedule your 2-3 week maintenance appointments. Don’t over use oil based eye products, rub or pull at your lashes.
